Use case
How to keep AI spend records finance can work from
A cost table that gets edited when someone finds a mistake is hard to reconcile. Corrections should be new entries.
Spendline writes each routed call to an append-only ledger, and a correction is always a new adjustment row rather than an edit. An owner can close a month: the closed total is recorded, new calls for that month are refused, and later corrections show as a separate corrected total.
How it works
Month close is available to account owners. A month moves from open through its close states to closed, and can then be marked reconciled. Closing checks attribution and records the month's total; afterwards that total does not change, and a mistake found later is corrected with a new ledger_adjustments row that records who filed it, so the original and the correction both stay visible. The append-only rule on the ledger applies whether or not a month is closed.
Month September 2026 (closed)
Closed total $12,480.00
Adjustments +$36.20 (1 row)
Corrected $12,516.20What to know before relying on it
These records cover traffic routed through Spendline only. They support your close; they are not an audit opinion, and they do not replace your own accounting controls or your auditor's judgment.
Why it matters
A finance lead preparing a board number needs last month's figure to stay put. Append-only records with corrections as new rows make every change visible.
Frequently asked questions
What if a cost was attributed wrongly and the month is already closed?
An owner files a ledger_adjustments entry as a new row. The original entry is never edited or deleted.
Who can close a month?
An owner. Closing, reconciling and uploading an invoice are owner actions in the dashboard and API, not something an ordinary API key or an AI agent can do.
